Saudi Arab denies interference in Pakistan’s internal matter

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal, who is currently on a two-day official visit in Islamabad, said on Tuesday that the issue of former president Pervez Musharraf is Pakistan’s internal matter, dismissing speculations that his visit comes as a apart of a plan to help Musharraf in treason case.

In his address to a joint press conference along with the prime minister’s advisor on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad, the Saudi foreign minister said that how can we interfere in internal matters of a friendly country.

His statement came in response to a question regarding media speculations that the Saudi foreign minister is visiting Pakistan to play his role in the case of Pervez Musharraf, who is facing treason charges and is currently admitted to a Rawalpindi’s military hospital for heart problem.

On Friday in her weekly media briefing in Islamabad, the Foreign office spokesperson Tasleem Aslam also dismissed media speculations that Saudi foreign minister’s upcoming visit pertained to the future of former president Pervez Musharraf.

The spokesperson said that the visit of the Saudi foreign minister is part of routine interaction between the two countries.
