KATHMANDU, Nepal: A two-day South Asian Association for Regional cooperation (SAARC) Interior Ministers’ conference will be held in Nepal on September 18-19.

The interior ministers from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Maldives will attend the conference.

The forthcoming meeting will focus on issues like rooting out terrorism, taking into account its linkages with illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and small arms and to make coordinated and concerted efforts to combat terrorism.

The meeting will also focus on strengthening networking among police authorities of SAARC member countries and also enhance information sharing among law enforcement agencies.

No talks between Indian, Pakistani interior ministers

Meanwhile, the Indian home ministry said that the home minister Rajnath Singh will not meet his Pakistan counterpart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on the sidelines of a SAARC Interior Ministers’ conference.

“The HM is of the firm opinion that terror & talks cannot go together. Unless Pakistan stops terrorism and violence no dialogue is possible,” the Indian home ministry said in a tweet.
