RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Russian Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan’s army general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation particularly developments in the Afghan peace process were discussed, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Talking to the Russian Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan, the COAS said that peace in both countries is in the greater interest of the region.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the positive role being played by Pakistan for the Afghan peace process and expressed that Pakistan-Russia relations will continue to prosper manifolds.

Both sides reiterated the commitment to enhance Pakistan-Russia bilateral relationship.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan Ambassador Zamir Kabulov reached Pakistan for a one-day visit.

Zamir Kabulov will also meet the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq and other dignitaries for an exchange of views on the latest developments in the Afghan peace process.

His visit is part of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in support of the Afghan peace process.
