ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The revenue of Rs 1010.841 million was collected from the motorway toll plazas during July to December 2015.

The official sources of Communication ministry said that toll plazas auction process was done in a transparent manner and the revenue generated from it was being spent on roads repairing.

   

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has sufficient funds for the repair of highways and utilizing it in proper manner.

All the toll plazas are awarded through auction and it is in full compliance with the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), they said.

The sources added that the government had also set up a board to review the process in this regard.

The sources said now contract of these plazas has been given to Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for 20 years to collect revenue and give some part to NHA and other to be spent on repairing of these motorways. The ministry is taking steps to ensure e-ticketing on all the toll plazas.

Meanwhile Faisalabad-Gojra section has already been completed and Gojra Shorkot section would be completed soon while some section of Khanewal-Multan has also been completed, adding Faisalabad-Multan motorway will cost 68. 489 million.
