Monitoring Desk: Bold and blunt Reham Khan in her press conference shared her insight about the media management of PTI and the counterproductive response from the government.
Although Rehman’s role in media had been related only to the character of an anchor her thoughtful comments on media-related issues were worth to listen.
Reham Khan spoke out about how mainstream media, particularly television screens had been controlled by PTI’s narrative while the government was trying to fight the PTI in a media war by releasing advertisements to newspapers and television channels but according to Rehman Khan, this move of the government had failed to provide counter-narrative to dangerous campaigns of PTI against state institutions. She believes that failure in the field of media is related to picking up illogical and inexperienced media managers that the government is using. She stated that the media was indirectly trying a coup in the Pakistan Army by spreading false narratives against the institution.
Giving an example of the “Green Initiative” project of the government, Rehman rightfully indicated that positive moves of the government are not being documented and promoted by the print as well as electronic while social media handling of the government placed it nowhere.
The bold and blunt Reham Khan even talked about what the PMLN government had not dared to while claiming that Mian Nawaz Sharif was twice sent home for his China-tilted foreign policy that according to Reham Khan did not suit the then establishment and now PMLN is backed because today’s establishment has no problem with pro-China or China-tilted foreign policy.
She cited that COAS Gen Asim Munir visited the United Kingdom and he was given an extraordinary Guard of Honour and delivered a very important speech there but Pakistani media did not cover the event as it should have been. She mentioned that the PECA Act is a useless paper because it did not stop extraordinary coverage of PTI and the government earned a bad name for introducing this Act but did not get anything out of this.
