Thar coal power plant ground-breaking on Friday

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari will jointly perform the ground-breaking of Thar coal mining project and 660-megawatt coal-fired power plant at Islamkoat near Mirpur Khas on Friday.

The project has the capacity to 5000 megawatt electricity for the next 50 years and it will save more than $50 billion in foreign exchange.

The project is expected to be completed in three and a half years.
