Tax collection increased by 15 percent till April 30

ISLAMABAD: The tax collection by the federal government has increased by 15 percent till April 30 this year compared with corresponding period last year, media reported on Friday.

In a statement, the ministry of finance said that it collected Rs1,794 billion during the current fiscal year as compared to Rs1,509 billion over the corresponding period last year.

The income tax during the current year was recorded at Rs655 billion compared to Rs597 billion during last year.

Similarly, the sales tax increased from Rs697 billion last year to Rs825 billion this year while the federal excise jumped to Rs126 billion as compared to Rs95 billion last year.
