ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that special courts were not desired by the Pakistan Army but they were needed due to extraordinary times.
“We will return to original system when normalcy returns,” the army chief said at an all parties conference held at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Friday, according to tweets posted by the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, aiming at viewing the progress so far made in implementation of the 20-point national action plan on counter terrorism adopted on December 24 in the wake of the terror attack on the army public school in Peshawar.
During the meeting, the prime minister urged the political leadership to finalize the draft constitutional amendment for setting up special courts to try the terrorists.
The prime minister said that the draft should be tabled in the National Assembly session today.
The COAS while speaking at the all parties conference said that Pakistan is at critical stage of the campaign against terrorism and taking extraordinary steps is need of the hour.
“We will win decisively,” the army chief said according to the DG ISPR.

The army chief said that our today’s decisions will determine the destiny of the nation. He said that consensus reached during the first all parties conference must endure and we need to make quantum decisions.
