ISLAMABAD: Six out of 14 missing persons who were brought to the Supreme Court on Saturday were identified, while remaining will be identified on Monday.

A three-member-bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ameer Hani Muslim resumed hearing the case pertaining to the missing persons.

As per Supreme Court’s order, the federal government brought 14 missing persons, who were kept at Malakand internment centers, to the premises of the apex court in two vehicles with their faces covered for security reasons.

Subsequently, an in-camera hearing underwent inside the chambers of Justice Amir Hani, who also summoned Ataullah, the superintendent of the internment centre in Malakand, with all records pertaining to the detentions.

The additional defence secretary told the bench that the presented persons were living an independent life and were traced with great effort for today’s hearing.

The identification process of these recovered persons was completed today, as six people were identified. The additional Secretary Defence said the remaining people will be identified on Monday.

Meantime, acting Secretary Defence Arif Nazeer directed the media not to unfold the identity of the missing persons, urging that their names and videos should not be aired.
