Shah Latif’s Urs begins tomorrow, Sindh govt announces public holiday

HYDERABAD: The Sindh government on Tuesday announced public holiday in Sindh on December 18, on account of 270th annual Urs of great Sufi Saint and poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

All government and private schools, colleges and universities would remain closed on December 18 (tomorrow) on account of the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

The three-day Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, the greatest poet of Sindh, will start from tomorrow at Bhitshah, Matiari district.

Tens of thousands of devotees from different parts of the country and many from overseas pay homage to Sufi Saint annually whose poetry played a key role in spreading mysticism in Sindh.
