ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold local bodies elections on dates given by three provincial governments.

A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case pertaining to the local bodies elections in the country.

During today’s proceeding, the court observed that it can’t grant more time in this regard.

The court said that Punjab and Balochistan provincial governments have informed the court that they are ready to hold local bodies elections on December 7, while Sindh government is ready to hold elections on November 27.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing until November 4.
