ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday issued a contempt of court notice to IG Frontier Corps Balochistan for not appearing before the bench despite repeated notices served to him.
A three-member-bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ameer Hani Muslim was hearing the case pertaining to the missing persons.
During today’s proceedings, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif appeared before the bench and requested to hold in-camera briefing of the case due its sensitive nature.
In reply, the chief justice asked him to first produce the remaining 30 missing persons and then agreed to hold in-camera briefing in judge’s chamber.
The chief justice observed that despite summons issued to him three times, IG Frontier Corps Balochistan did not abide by the court’s order to appear before the bench and to explain his position over the recovery of missing persons of Balochistan.
The apex court then ordered to issue contempt notice to the IG Frontier Corps Balochistan.
