ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday observed that Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) was responsible for producing all the missing persons.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry issued its verdict in Balochistan missing persons case on Wednesday.
In its order, the apex court said that all missing persons should be presented before DIG CID. The court also directed for implementation of its previous directive about the missing persons.
The court further directed issuance of notification regarding appointment of acting Inspector General FC Balochistan and directed the interior secretary to take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, the court separated the matter of Inspector General FC contempt of court from missing persons case.
Earlier‚ the court was informed that Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan has been on leave since November 29 due to his indisposition.
On Tuesday, the apex court ordered the production of all the 35 missing persons within seven days and directed the federal government to legislate in order to curb enforced disappearances.
The court also directed the federal government to take action against the persons involved in forced detentions of citizens, adding that the prime minister should make it sure that that no forced detention is made by any agency in the future.
