ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of hearing of a treason case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and directed the federal government to proceed further with its investigations.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja disposed of the hearing of treason case on Wednesday and directed the Attorney General Munir A Malik to proceed in the case as per the statement submitted by the government in the Supreme Court.

Attorney General Munir A Malik informed the court that the special investigation committee has already initiated its work and assured the court that the government will move forward according to the directions of the court.

Late last month, the federal government formed a committee to collect evidences of treason under Article 6 of the constitution.

Committee members include FIA’s senior officials namely Additional Director Generals Khalid Qureshi and M Azam Khan while two FIA directors are Hussain Asghar and Maqsoodul Hasan.
