LAHORE: Civil society organizations held a peace rally on Mall Road in front of Punjab Assembly in Lahore on Thursday.
Meanwhile, two suspects hailing from Waziristan were arrested from the rally.
The rally participants were holding Pakistani flags and placards inscribed with their demands. They said that they wanted a peaceful Pakistan where everybody irrespective of cast, creed and religion is safe and respected.
The sources said that representatives of civil society organizations strongly criticized Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for bowing down himself to radicals.
On the occasion, Laal, a musical band known for singing socialist and progressive political songs, played songs of revolutionary poet Habib Jalab.
The people who participated in the rally included Imtiaz Alam, Salman Abid, Bishop Mano Rumal, Agha Aqrar Haroon, Zafar Malik, Abdullah Malik, Aliya Shah and others.
