Repatriation of IDPs to begin from February 15

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch has said the process of repatriation and rehabilitation of those displaced in the wake of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb in the North Waziristan tribal region would begin from February 15.

In a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that the process of repatriation and rehabilitation of two million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would be completed within one year.

The federal minister said that Rs100 billion are needed for IDPs’ repatriation and rehabilitation.

The minister said that every possible step would be taken for their early rehabilitation. He said that the government would compensate tribesmen for the losses they suffered.

Baloch said that the operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants is going on in North Waziristan agency while another would be started in the cities and streets of Pakistan to eliminate terrorists.

Moreover, he stressed the need of making joint efforts to win the war against terrorism. He also urged the media to help police and civil administration in war against terrorism.
