Lahore, Pakistan: Punjab government has started to collect data about losses caused to crops in 33 districts.

According to Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Jawad Akram, administration of all the districts of the province has started sending the data of losses caused to the crops of the farmers in 33 districts to the government under farmers package of Prime Minister.

After completion of data, financial assistance of Rs. 5000/- per acre will be given to the affected cultivators for their damaged crop. This financial assistance will be given to the farmers having upto 12.5 acre land, he added.

The decision of collecting data was taken in a Flood Cabinet Committee here on Sunday. Secretary Information Momin Agha, Director PDMA Ali Anan Qamar, Muhamamd Sajjad, Muhammad Ammar, representatives of NADRA and Banks and officers of Revenue and PITB were also present on the occasion. Jawad Akram said that more than 400 one window operation centers will be set up in 33 districts for the provision of financial assistance to the farmers under Prime Minister’s Farmers’ Package.

Officers of NADRA and Revenue, representatives of Banks as well as officers of District Administration will give pay orders to the affected farmers after necessary action and verification and farmers will immediately get them encashed from the nearby banks. He said that publicity will also be made at local level regarding payment centers in the districts so that farmers could not face any difficulty. He said that district administration will bring the affectees to payment centers and they will be provided the facility of water and tea there. He said that strict action will be taken against the farmers providing wrong information. He said that instructions have been issued to administration of all the districts to immediately send the data to PDMA office.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif has announced special support package to farmers in which insurance of crops of farmers is also included.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
