ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Thailand on Tuesday signed one agreement and two Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) for increasing cooperation in economic and diplomatic fields.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra who arrived in Islamabad earlier in the day on a two-day official visit to further promote bilateral ties between the two countries.

The agreement pertained to exemption of visa for diplomatic staff of the two countries while the MoUs related to establishment of Joint Business Council and Joint Trade Company.

Formal talks between Pakistan and Thailand were held at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif led the Pakistan delegation‚ while his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra led her country’s delegation.

The prime minister was assisted by his advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz‚ special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatimi‚ minister of state for privatization Khurram Dastgir‚ and minister of state for information technology and telecommunication Anusha Rehman. Cabinet members of the Thai Prime Minister assisted her at the talks.

The two sides exchanged views on entire range of bilateral relations with special focus on promotion of trade and investment and regional situation.
