Pakistan, Slovakia agree to further strengthen political, economic relations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Slovakia have agreed to further strengthen the bilateral political and economic relations, the Foreign Office said on Monday.

A meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak and the adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad on Monday.

A six member delegation led by Miroslav Lajcak is in Pakistan on a two-day visit. A group of businessmen is also accompanying the Slovak deputy prime minister and foreign minister.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the entire range of Pakistan-Slovak bilateral relations. They also discussed global and regional issues.

The adviser briefed the visiting delegation on Pakistan’s economic revival and investor friendly climate. He highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to have a peaceful neighbourhood.

The Slovak deputy prime minister and foreign minister said that Slovakia keenly looked forward to increase its trade with Pakistan.

The visiting Slovak delegation also called on the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir. A Pakistan-Slovak Business Forum was held at a local Hotel.

The delegation will be visit Lahore tomorrow where another business forum will be held. The Slovak foreign minister will inaugurate the premises of its Honorary Consulate at Lahore.
