Pakistan, Nigeria announce cooperation in diverse fields

ABUJA: Pakistan and Nigeria on Tuesday announced that they will cooperate with each other in diverse fields including counter terrorism and defence.

In a news conference after holding delegation-level talks in Abuja on Tuesday, President Mamnoon Hussain and Nigerian President Dr Goodluck Jonathan said that both the countries have also agreed to intensify cooperation at the international forums and efforts for reforms in the UN Security Council.

The president Mamnoon expressed his deep sympathy and concern over the recent abduction of 273 girl students and prayed for their early and safe recovery.

Mamnoon Hussain said that the Pakistan government is establishing a ‘Look Africa Policy’ to further fortify their relations in all areas of cooperation to the mutual benefit of their peoples. He said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.

The Pakistani president also stressed upon more frequent bilateral exchanges at heads of states and governments level, which was imperative for further strengthening of political, economic and commercial relations.

Moreover, he also announced the opening of commercial section of the Embassy of Pakistan, in Lagos.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
