ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that there is no question of the release of Shakil Afridi, a Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA track down former Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, at the request of the United States as his case is sub-judice.
In her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam further said that Pakistan and the US will hold strategic dialogue in Washington on January 27 and 28.
The foreign office spokesperson said that that meeting between the advisor to the prime minister on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz and US Secretary of State John Kerry is essentially a ministerial review of working groups’ progress.
Moreover, Aslam said that a demarche was issued to the Indian counsellor in Pakistan on the issue of intra-Kashmir trade.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan and India are in contact to resolve this issue. She said that Pakistan wants intra-Kashmir trade to continue smoothly.
