Islamabad, Pakistan: The government of Pakistan will consider to ban live broadcast of speeches of Altaf Hussain after his hateful address on the night of April 30.
According to sources in Pakistan Electronic Media regulatory Authority (PEMRA), strong reaction of Pakistan Army against remarks of Altaf Hussain and referring possible legal action against MQM leadership as well as television channels for live broadcasting of hateful speeches will be considered and PEMRA will ban live broadcasting of Altaf speeches.
Talking to Dispatch News Desk news agency, PEMRA sources were of the view that rules of broadcasting are very clear and there is no provision to accept any hateful speeches against state and important institutions of state including Pakistan Army and judiciary but Pakistani media is playing a game of “free for all” and do not listen PEMRA whenever it tries to clamp rules on media.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan Army has strongly condemned remarks passed by MQM chief sitting in London against Pakistan Army calling such remarks “disgusting and intolerable”.
Responding Altaf Hussain’s speech on TV on the night of April 30, Director General Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajawa said that the speech of Altaf Hussain containing remarks about Army and its leadership were uncalled for and disgusting.
D.G. ISPR was of the view that using media to incite the people of Pakistan to rise against the State would be pursued legally.
PEMRA sources also indicated that broadcasting of live press conferences of any such political and religious parties those are allegedly involved in terrorism and criminal activities would also be banned on electronic media.

Sources indicated that a meeting would be held to design framework of live broadcasting in the light of PEMA rules in the presence of representatives of electronic media houses. “PEMRA is considering getting fresh undertaking from media houses over this issue of such sensitive matters and media shall not be allowed to play recklessly”, claim sources.
