BAKU, Azerbaijan: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed on the need for closer bilateral defence and economic cooperation.
The understanding was developed during a meeting between President Mamnoon Hussain and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on Friday.
During the meeting, the president called for transformation of the closer political ties between the two countries into strong economic partnership. He said that the two countries had unanimity of views on regional and international issues.
The president thanked Azerbaijan for its support to Pakistan on Kashmir issue and said that Islamabad fully supports Azeri stand on Nagorno Karabakh.
The Defence Minister of Azerbaijan also called on President Mamnoon and discussed bilateral issues especially related to defence cooperation.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain was conferred honorary degree of Ph.D. by the Baku State University for his contribution for promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
