Nine military courts being established across the country: ISPR

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday that the process of establishing special courts to try terror suspects has been initiated.

In a press release issued by the ISPR, it was stated that initially nine special courts are being established across the country.

The ISPR said that three courts each will be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, two in Sindh and one in Balochistan.

“These courts will start functioning soon,” the Pakistan military’s media wing added.

The military officers headed special courts, which are being established for a period of two years for speedy trial of terrorists in the country, are part of the 20-point national action plan against terrorism adopted by the country’s political and military leadership following the Peshawar school terror attack on December 16.

In addition, the 21st Constitutional amendment and the amendment in the Pakistan Army Act 1952 were also made to pave the way for setting up military courts in the country.
