Nawaz Sharif to leave for China on Friday

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Beijing on Friday on an official visit that will further strengthen the bilateral relations, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.

In her weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said that during his visit, the prime minister will hold meetings with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

The spokesperson said that a number of agreements mostly related to the field of energy and memorandum of understanding (MoUs) will be signed by the two countries during the prime minister’s visit.

The prime minister will also attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) informal leadership meeting, being held in Beijing from November 8 to 11, Tasneem Aslam said.

An annual APEC informal leadership meeting is attended by the heads of government of all APEC members.

The conference theme of this year is “Building for the future of the Asia-Pacific partnership”.
