WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet US President Barack Obama today (Wednesday) at White House to discuss a wide array of issues including Kashmir dispute and Afghan peace process as well as matters of mutual interest.

The two leaders will discuss ways to further enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

In a statement‚ White House Spokesman Jay Carney said President Obama looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the White House, adding that the Prime Minister’s official visit comes as we are strengthening Pakistan-US relations.

Carney said Washington want to advance shared interest of a stable‚ secure‚ and prosperous Pakistan that is contributing to regional and international security and prosperity.

Meanwhile‚ a State Department spokesperson has confirmed that the United States was moving forward with over one billion dollars economic and military aid to Pakistan that was held up because of strained relations in 2011 and 2012.
