Nation to celebrate Pakistan day tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Day is being celebrated on Sunday with determination to strive harder for the prosperity, peace and stability of the country.

The day will dawn with 21-gun salute in the federal capital and 19-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered for security and prosperity of the country at all places of worship.

It will be a public holiday and national flag will be hoisted on major government buildings.

The major ceremony of the day will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain will confer awards upon top-ranking army and civil officials. Likewise, wreaths will be laid on the graves of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.

On March 23, 1940, a resolution was passed which negated the concept of United India and recommended the creation of an independent Muslim state. Hence, it was on the basis of this resolution that in 1946 the Muslim League decided to go for one state for the Muslims, instead of two.
