Musharraf’s name not to be removed from ECL: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for defence Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that name of former president Pervez Musharraf will not be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL) at any cost, adding that the former president is being provided best medical facilities here.

In an interview, the defence minister said that there is no pressure from any country including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates on the issue.

Khawaja Asif further said that Musharraf has not respected the law in the past and he is not respecting law now. He said that Musharraf’s case is in the court and he should contest the case.

Earlier, Begum Sehba Musharraf, wife of Pervez Musharraf, moved an application to the interior ministry to remove Musharraf’s name from the ECL.

The application included various reasons including the former president’s illness to get his name removed from the ECL. It contended that the Pervez Musharraf wanted to travel abroad along with his family members.
