ISLAMABAD: The 9th Muharram processions are being across the country to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his followers who sacrificed their lives for Islam at Karbala some seven centuries ago.

The federal and provincial governments have taken tight security measures in order to prevent any untoward incident during Ashura days. The law enforcing agencies have been put on high alert to deal with any eventuality.

The mobile phone services have been blocked in the vulnerable cities of the country as to foil nefarious designs of the anti-state elements and terrorists. The services will remain suspended in more than 80 cities across the country from 6:00 am till 10:00 pm.

Likewise, pillion riding has also been banned in various areas as a security measure.
