KARACHI: A political activist belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has been arrested in connection with the murder of advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Shahid Hayat told a press conference on Tuesday.

“Police and rangers have arrested the killer of advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa through a joint operation in Gizri” Hayat said, adding that more raids are being conducted to arrest suspect’s accomplices.

The AIG said that suspect, Syed Kazim Abbas Rizvi, is a member of MQM’s unit No 178, adding that he confessed to killings of seven more people.

To a question, the AIG said that criminal elements are intruded into political parties, but he pledged that police would cleanse the mess.
