QUETTA: Two helicopters carrying relief goods in Balochistan’s earthquake stricken Awaran district were attacked by militants with small arms on Friday, the Frontier Crops (FC) spokesman Khan Wasey said.

The FC spokesman said that militants opened fire at two helicopters which were landing at Mashkay to provide relief goods to earthquake survivors, adding that FC personnel engaged in relief activities retaliated and the militants sped away in their vehicles. He said that there was no loss of life.

It was the second assault by militants in two days as on Thursday two rockets were fired at a helicopter carrying the Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Muhammad Saeed Aleem in Awaran district. However, he remained safe in the attack.
