Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed on Thursday

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday with full zeal and fervour to express solidarity with the people of Indian-held Kashmir and pay tribute to the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs.

The day is observed every year on February 5 to draw attention of the world community to the lingering Kashmir dispute and for its early resolution.

The Kashmiri people living in Pakistan, the occupied Kashmir and other parts of the world will also observe the Solidarity Day with the renewed pledge to continue their freedom movement till they achieve their right to self-determination.

It will be a public holiday tomorrow in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. All offices and shopping centres will remain closed.

On this occasion, rallies and processions will be taken out in different parts of the world against illegal occupation of Kashmir by the Indian troops.

The symposia and seminars will also be held to aware the public about importance of the day.

Earlier on Sunday, addressing a function in Islamabad held in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Chairman Kashmir Committee and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the international community for its discriminatory attitude towards the Kashmir dispute.

The JUI-F chief regretted the international community has adopted a callous attitude on the issue of Kashmir. He urged the international community to play its role to help resolve this issue.

In his address on the occasion, the Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said that resolution of Kashmir issue is imperative for durable peace in the South Asia.

The information minister said that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination.
