Imran Khan Unveils Plaque of Razia Hassan School of Architecture at BNU
Lahore: The naming ceremony of the Beaconhouse National University (BNU)’s School of Architecture was held on April 13, 2014 at BNU Tarogil Campus. The School of Architecture has been named after the late mother of Dr. Parvez Hassan, who is a renowned lawyer, environmentalist and philanthropist. He is a member of the Board of Directors, Beaconhouse National University Foundation and the Board of Governors, BNU.
Mr. Imran Khan, Founding Chairman, Board of Governors of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Chancellor of University of Bradford, Founder Namal College Mianwali, Former Captain of Pakistan Cricket Team, a Sitting Parliamentarian and the Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
Present at the ceremony were some of the most eminent academics and philanthropists of Pakistan. These included Syed Babar Ali, Mr. Razzaq Dawood, Dr. Parvez Hassan, Chairperson, Board of Governors, BNU, Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar and members of the BNU Board of Governors of BNU, Mr. Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Mr. Kasim Mahmud Kasuri, Mr. Shamim S. Khan and Dr. Khalique-ur-Rahman. Also present were Deans of BNU Schools Dr. S. Gulzar Haider, Dr. Mehdi Hasan, Dr. Tariq Rahman, Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Dr. Khaver Zia and former Dean of BNU School of Liberal Arts, Mrs. Navid Shahzad besides faculty and students of the School of Architecture, BNU.
The family members of Dr. Parvez Hassan were also in attendance on the occasion including his daughter Yasmeen and son Mr. Omer Hassan.
In his speech Mr. Imran Khan emphasized the importance of education and institutionalization of public and private sector organization. He appreciated the philanthropic contributions of Dr. Parvez Hassan. He also applauded the efforts of Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri in filling the gap left in the education sector due to inadequate availability of public institutions to provide quality education.
