IHC suspends notification regarding removal of PEMRA chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday declared the notification regarding the dismissal of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed as null and void.

The court issued notices to the concerned parties and sought their reply, while Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed was restored as PEMRA chairman.

Earlier, Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed had challenged his removal in the IHC. The notification had stated that President Mamnoon Hussain had removed Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed for his alleged involvement in corruption and illegal activities.
