ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed said on Thursday that the government is taking steps to ensure security of media houses and journalists.
In his address to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad on Thursday, the minister said that the recommendations of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Press Clubs are being implemented to ensure security of journalists. He said that journalists will be provided with life insurance.
The information minister said that dozens of terrorist groups are active. However, he said, the government is committed to root out this menace from the country.
The meeting chaired by Chairman Committee Marvi Memon was reviewing the security plan of media houses and journalists.
