ISLAMABAD: The nation will observe 48th Defence Day of Pakistan today with traditional zeal and reverence to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of 1965 war and with pledges to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan at all cost.

Defence Day is observed with zeal and fervour on September 6 to pay homage and tributes to the shuhada and ghazis who rendered supreme sacrifices in defence of the motherland.

Special prayers will be offered for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the motherland in all mosques. Floral wreaths will be laid and Fateha will be offered at the graves and Monuments of recipients of Nishan-e-Haider, the highest gallantry award. The messages from respective Service Chiefs will be read out to the troops.

Hilal-e-Istiqlal will be hoisted in the cities of Lahore, Sargodha and Sialkot where citizens alongside Armed Forces braved enemy’s aggression with valiance and honor and caused enemy an ignominious defeat.

Pakistan Television and all private TV Channels will broadcast special programs to highlight the significance of the Day. Defence Day Show recorded by ISPR on the theme ‘Defending together as a Nation’, will be telecast on Pakistan Television at 2105 hours on 6 September and also at all private TV Channels subsequently at different times.

Likewise the print media will publish special supplements on the occasion, carrying articles, features and stories of valour exhibited by our Armed Forces and the nation.
