Dar says growth rate to remain over 4 percent this fiscal year

ASTANA: The federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar has expressed the hope that national economy would grow by over four percent during the current fiscal year.

In his addressing at the first business session at 47th annual meeting of Asian Development Bank Board of Governors in Kazakstan’s capital Astana, the finance minister said inflation would remain in single digit due to growth in both agricultural and industrial sectors.

The finance minister said the fiscal deficit had been restrained to around six percent through increase in revenues and reduction in expenditures along with positive growth in exports and remittances.

Dar said necessary domestic reforms are being undertaken along with government preference for regional integration through increased connectivity and enhanced preferential arrangements.

In addition, he also outlined the government’s strategies in overcoming the macro-economic challenges.
