D.Com students in Punjab will pass only five exams instead of seven to complete ACCA Foundation Diploma
Lahore: Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) has agreed to teach financial course consisting of two semesters on the pattern of foundation diploma of ACCA to D.Com students in Punjab and now D.Com students have to pass five exams instead of seven to complete ACCA Foundation Diploma.
An agreement has been made between ACCA and Higher Education Department Punjab in this regard, under which, in the first phase ACCA will give scholarships to 100 male and female students of D.Com students studying in nine commerce colleges, out of 118 government commerce colleges, under a pilot project in Punjab from June this year whereas faculty development programme is also being launched for capacity building of concerned teachers.
This was disclosed by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while talking to media after meeting with Chief Executive ACCA Mrs. Helen Brand, Executive Director Marketing Steve Heathote, Head of ACCA Pakistan Sajjeed Aslam and Business Relationship Manager Mohtarma Sabahat Khan. Secretary Higher Education Punjab Muhammad Aslam Kambo and Additional Secretary (Planning) Shahid Zaman were also present on this occasion. The Education Minister said that Pakistan is needed financial experts for ensuring economic growth. He said that under this project, 100 most talented male and female students of nine government commerce colleges from Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan and DG Khan has been selected who will be provided education of first two semesters of Foundation Diploma of ACCA from July this year whereas faculty development programme is being started from June for this purpose. He said that Punjab government is also focusing to bring the standard of commerce education at par with international level.
Chief Executive ACCA Mrs. Helen Brand told that under the agreement, out of total educational expenses of 100 male and female students, ACCA will bear 51 lakh rupees while Higher Education Department Punjab will give scholarships of 91 lakh rupees. The students will have to pay only a fee of Rs. 5500 and will get the admission in foundation diploma of ACCA.
