COAS, DG ISI reaches Kabul on day-long visit

KABUL, Afghanistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif accompanied by a high-level military delegation including the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar reached Kabul on Tuesday for a one-day official visit.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the army chief would hold meetings with military and political leadership of Afghanistan.

The sources said that during the meetings between the Pakistani and Afghan military leadership, the issues relating to security and coordination at the Pakistan-Afghan border will come under discussion.

Likewise, the ongoing cooperation against militants as well as hand over of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Mullah Fazlullah to Pakistan are also expected to be discussed during the meetings. It is believed that the TTP top leader is hiding in Afghanistan.

Mullah Fazlullah is the most wanted person in Pakistan because his militant outfit has claimed responsibility for so many terror attacks across the county including the army public school Peshawar attack on December 16.

A day after the Peshawar attack, General Raheel went to Kabul, and shared classified intelligence details with the Afghan officials and revealed to them that the mastermind behind December 16 Peshawar school attack had been giving directives to the perpetrators of the attack from Afghanistan.
