BAHAWALPUR: The Quaid-e-Azam solar energy park has been inaugurated in Cholistan that envisages an estimated investment of Rs200 billion.

The 1000-megawatt solar energy project, spread over 11,000 acres in Cholistan desert, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.

In his address to the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said that the government is taking practical steps for the progress and development of the province.

Sharif said that 1000 megawatt electricity will be generated through solar energy in the first phase, adding that investment worth more than Rs200 billion is being made in the project.

The chief minister said the park will supply power to Bahawalpur and other cities of Punjab.
