ISLAMABAD: The cabinet committee on national security began its meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday to review national security policy and the border situation.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was chairing the meeting while advisor to the prime minister on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz‚ Federal Ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan‚ Pervaiz Rashid‚ Khawaja Muhammad Asif‚ Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee‚ heads of three armed forces‚ and Directors General ISI and Intelligence Bureau were attending the meeting.
The Director General Military Operation briefed the meeting regarding internal security situation. The meeting was also briefed regarding situation on borders particularly Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and Pak-Afghan border.
Likewise, Afghan situation also came under discussion during the meeting.
The Secretary Interior and Director General ISI briefed the meeting about internal security situation and successes in the ongoing operation in Karachi to bring peace in the city.
The Interior Secretary also briefed the participants about the salient features of the proposed National Security Policy which will be later on presented to the Federal Cabinet for its approval.
Earlier‚ Chief of Army of Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed security related matters and other national affairs during the meeting.
The internal and external security situation of the country was also discussed in the meeting.
