I have seen many bloggers complaining and crying over the drop down of adsense earnings this year (2014). Yes its true that the adsense earnings have dropped down by 45% as per my personnel experience. However this blog post is focused on new bloggers working in Pakistan.
We all know that google keep on rolling out updates like Penguin or Panda but no one has ever talked about the effect of new Algo on adsense. Openly Google doesnt accept this fact but its true that such algo updates have direct effect on your adsense earnings, not because of your traffic drop down but Policies.
In Pakistan there are number of new bloggers who just blog to make money however the concept was different when i started blogging years ago. Coming back to the topic there are so many bloggers in Pakistan which try to make money out of social media traffic. Yes its true that everything was fine and good till 2013 but in 2013 google made numerous changes to their alogo and policies. Bloggers who were relying on social media traffic like facebook or twitter were doomed in 2014. if they were making 500$ in 2013, this year they made average 180$ – 200$ on the same amount of traffic.
Experts used to say that CPC is set by the Advertiser (Adword user) and google offers it to the publisher after taking their cut. This concept is totally wrong now as cpc differs on the amount of traffic and the source of traffic. Keep it in mind that i am not talking about Location here but in Pakistan if you drive traffic from social media then cpc is 0.01$ and click rate is a lot lower but when the same user access your website from google search engine then your cpc would be 0.03$ and click rate will be much higher. Yes i have experimented this thing this year.
I know many people in Pakistan whom are getting 0.06$ – 0.08$ from Pakistani traffic just because they work hard on their content and traffic is organic (google). Driving the traffic from Social media to your website is a good thing but only if you get atleast 50% competitive from Google against the social traffic from facebook or twitter. This is also a major reason for being banned from adsense. I know now the question arises about direct traffic? Yes direct traffic works fine and pays you higher, atleast 70% higher then social media traffic.
Crust: Experiment yourself by driving organic traffic to your website instead of wasting time and money on Social media traffic. You will end up getting your adsense banned pretty soon.
