Education3-day special campaign drive to enroll 500‚000 children in schools beginning today

ISLAMABAD: A three-day special campaign is beginning throughout the country on Monday to enroll five hundred thousand out of school children in schools.

Education is one of the top priorities of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Government and it is committed to increase literacy through education emergency envisaging launching of crash programmes.

The federal‚ provincial‚ Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan governments would aggressively participate in the campaign to achieve the target.

During the campaign‚ children of school going age would be enrolled with the cooperation of local communities.

Twenty thousand non-formal schools working under the administrative control of the federal government would add five children each during the campaign. The remaining four hundred thousand children would be enrolled by the provincial governments.

According to an estimate‚ over six point five million children of age group of five to nine and twenty-five million of five to sixteen years of age are out of school in the country.
