100‚000 new taxpayers to be brought to tax net in current financial year

ISLAMABAD: The government plans to bring 100‚000 new taxpayers to the tax net in the current financial year, a fresh initiative being adopted in the face of non-payment and under payment of due taxes, official sources said.

The officials sources said that notices regarding filing of returns have been issued to over 63,000 potential tax payers. They said that in response to these notices‚ more than 3,000 persons have registered voluntarily and more than 35,000 persons have filed returns.

The sources said the government has also decided to bring additional 100‚000 tax payers to the tax net in each of the following 2 years.
