Overview – Chaklala Scheme III.

In the province of Punjab, Chaklala is a sizable and important suburb of Rawalpindi. It is located on the major railway line, to the east of Grand Trunk Road, and astride Airport Road. Chaklala Railway Station, which serves the neighboring areas is also situated near Chaklala Scheme III.

In 2002, the bigger Rawalpindi Cantonment was separated into the smaller Chaklala Cantonment in an effort to enhance the management in the cantonment districts of the Pakistani military capital, Rawalpindi.

Before the year 2002, the Rawalpindi Cantonment was the largest of all the cantonments in Pakistan. As a result of Pakistan’s fast urbanization, this led to administrative difficulties in the provision of municipal services.

Chaklala is governed by the Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB), which is also responsible for the provision of water, the treatment of sewage, and the maintenance of local roads, in addition to the upkeep of parks and other environmentally conscious spaces.

This is distinct from the other two municipal bodies, namely the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation, all of which contribute to the formation of Rawalpindi’s metropolitan metropolis.

Modern housing schemes, such as Gulzar-e-Quaid, Railway Housing Scheme 8 Chaklala, Chaklala Housing Schemes I and II, Askari – I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, X & XII, can be found in the region.

The region is traversed by the Grand Trunk Road (also known as the N-5).  The state-of-the-art infrastructure including the roads and flyovers connects the region with the city core of Rawalpindi and provides a path to Islamabad, which is the capital city of Pakistan.

It begins at the Ammar Shaheed Chowk Roundabout and continues until it reaches the Koraal Chowk/Koraal Chowk Intersection. Along this route, you’ll find the Pakistan Air Force Base Chaklala, which is very next to the old airport.

It is a contemporary highway with six lanes. Two flyovers, one closer to the Ammar Shaheed Chowk Roundabout in 2009 and the other near Koral Chowk in 2017, have been built with the intention of lightening the burden of traffic in the most congested areas of the route.

Both Rawalpindi and Islamabad are connected to this route, which acts as the primary transportation corridor between the two cities.
