CHANDIGARH: A case has been registered against Indian rapper Honey Singh for allegedly using obscene language in his songs, days after the state government was pulled by Punjab and Haryana high court for not taking action against him, India media reported.

According to police, the singer has been booked under section 294 of IPC (Obscene acts and songs).

On Tuesday after it was pulled up by the high court for “inaction” on the matter, the home department had given the go-ahead to Nawanshahar police to register a case against the singer for his song ‘main hoon balatkari’ (I am a rapist.)

About two weeks ago, the department of cultural affairs had submitted a report to the state home department, recommending action against the singer, who has been courting controversies for his songs based on sexual themes.
