ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Principal Information Officer (PIO) of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Rao Tehsin Ali Khan has been exonerated after he was not found guilty of any disciplinary offences.

The disciplinary proceedings under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 against Rao Tehsin, a retired BS-21 Officer of Information Group, were initiated with the approval of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

However, the “Ministry of Interior has intimated the Establishment Division that there is not document available with it which may form the basis of any disciplinary proceedings against Rao Tehsin Ali Khan,” said a summary sent by the Secretary Information Shafqat Jalil to the prime minister as per the directives of the Establishment Division.

Therefore, the summary recommends, that disciplinary proceedings against Rao Tehsin may be abated.

Rao Tehsin retired from the services on August 22, 2018.

It is worth noting that the former PIO Rao Tehsin was removed from his post along with the then Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed and the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi in April 2017 as per the recommendations of the Dawn Leaks Inquiry Commission.
