Rangers personnel conduct raids in Karachi, arrest eight terrorists

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Rangers personnel have arrested eight terrorists on Monday from various parts of Karachi, the largest and most populous metropolitan city of Pakistan.

The arrests were made in raids conducted by the Rangers personnel in Baldia Town and Gulshan-e-Bonair areas of Karachi.

The arrested terrorists belonged to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned terror outfit that claimed responsibility for a recent and the country’s bloodiest terrorist attack on an army-run school in Peshawar

The Rangers personnel also recovered weapons and explosives from the possession of terrorists.

The security forces have intensified their actions against terrorists across the country following the Peshawar incident which claimed lives of more than 130 children.

A number of terrorists have been arrested or killed in various operations carried out by the security forces throughout the country since December 16 when the attack conducted in Peshawar school.

Likewise, the implementation of death penalty awarded by courts to terrorists also began and till now six convicted terrorists have been executed.

The latest executions were made on Sunday afternoon when four terrorists were hanged till death in the district jail Faisalabad.

The four terrorists Ghulam Sarwar, Zubair Ahmed, Akhlas Ahmed and Rashid Tipu were involved in an attack on former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Earlier on Friday night, two death row convicts Aqeel alias Dr Usman and Arshad Mehmood were hanged in Faisalabad jail.

Dr Usman was involved in the army’s General Headquarter (GHQ) attack which took place in October 2009 while Arshad Mehmood was executed for an assassination attempt on Pervez Musharraf.
