In their opening matches, Pakistan defeated the Netherlands by 81 runs at Hyderabad on October 06 while Sri Lanka lost to South Africa by 102 runs at Delhi a day later.
The two teams last met in Asia Cup 2023 on September 14 wherein Sri Lanka sealed a narrow victory over Pakistan in a thriller and confirmed their place in the final but then couldn’t have the last laugh.
In ICC Cricket World Cups, Pakistan so far remain unbeaten against Sri Lanka as in the past, they faced each other in seven completed matches and all those were won by the former.
Even overall, Pakistan hold an edge over Sri Lanka in One Day Internationals (ODIs). They have so far been involved in 156 ODI encounters, and 92 of them ended in favour of Pakistan whereas Sri Lanka tasted victory in 59 games.
