A day after sealing a 21-run victory over Bangladesh at Christchurch, Pakistan will now take on the host New Zealand at the same venue on Saturday.

Previously, the two sides faced each other in 25 T20 Internationals from September 22, 2007 to October 26, 2021. Of them, 15 T20Is were won by Pakistan whereas New Zealand sealed triumph in 10 matches.

Both Pakistan and New Zealand are featuring in the T20I Tri-Series 2022 along with Bangladesh.

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs at Hagley Oval in Christchurch in the opening game of the event.

Mohammad Rizwan’s another 78 runs knock-off 50 balls guided Pakistan to post a total of 167 runs on the board.

Rizwan along with Babar Azam established 52 runs opening partnership before the latter got out off Mehidy Hasan Miraz while attempting a sweep shot.

The following batsman Shan Masood also smashed 31 runs with a strike rate of almost 141. However, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali couldn’t contribute much with the bat and scored 6, 13, and 4 runs respectively.

In the end, Mohammad Nawaz was unbeaten on 8 runs along with Mohammad Rizwan who had struck his 21st T20I fifty.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed picked up 2 wickets while Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed, and Mehidy Hasan took 1 each.

In reply, Bangladesh managed to score 146 runs for 8 in 20 overs, falling short of 21 runs.

With 42 runs off just 21 balls, Yasir Ali remained the highest scorer for Bangladesh. Litton Das and Afif Hossain also scored 35 and 25 runs respectively.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim sealed 3 wickets and Mohammad Nawaz 2. Shahnawaz Dahani, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan also took 1 wicket each.
